PIREP - Stark Avionics

Numerous person, I appreciate pireps from those of you with knowledge about shops you use (positive or negative) and prefer to pass on my experience to the consideration of others as well. After a so-so experience within a recent avionics install, I discovered myself seeking an alternate avenue to the setting up a new transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The tariff of one was very high that we actually busted out laughing over the phone just as if I were in a comedy bar. He was apparently much less amused as I. I was telling the story of my local quote to a friend at the airport and he recommended i call John Stark at Stark Avionics for a quote. In doing my research ahead of calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps for the shop. In this, I stumbled upon an absolutely terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you would like to learn it). This pirep caused me serious concern about whether or not to call Stark for the quote.

I posted a broad query for suggestions about an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He i spoke regarding his knowledge about Stark and that i chose to give John a trip depending on the two recommendations I coming from trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns amongst the negative pirep on MS it comes with I became gun shy in line with the previous experience. As they always say, there's two sides to each and every story and John took his time to explain his side in my opinion like me certain he'll be happy to use someone else who want to phone him in that way. Our conversation shifted in the pirep to pricing. John i discussed different equipment options, what can work best with my needs/wants and the one-time fee installed price for every option. We ultimately thought we would install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted me a soft price, but was beforehand how the number could be slightly higher if your tray was riveted in (numerous Mooneys are). I went along to manchester airport that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were that come with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in a very timely manner and confirmed the flat fee price for your equipment and install in writing and now we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane would have been to be delivered the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said he would have everything else but ready by Tuesday, but I opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday just in case there have been some snags as you go along.
